Recycle and Trash Update
- On November 15, 2021
Brightview Landscaping Leaves Removal
On Tuesday, November 16, Brightview will be on site collecting removing leaves and yard waste. This is the first of two planned visits to accomplish removal of fallen leaves. Leaves must be bagged in approved paper yard waste bags or placed in piles curbside. Brightview will not clear leaves from individual backyards. You can blow the leaves out of your gate onto common areas and Brightview will collect those leaves.
Note: Thanksgiving Recycle Collection
The Thursday recycling services fall on the Thanksgiving holiday, November 25, 2021. Republic Trash Service will provide recycling services to the community on Saturday, November 27, 2021, following the Thanksgiving holiday.
REMINDER – Trash and Recycle Pick-Up Policy
Trash and Yard Waste
Trash must be securely bagged and placed curb side no earlier than 6:00 am on trash pick-up days, which is twice a week on Tuesday and Friday. Any trash containers used must be stored out of public view as soon as possible, after trash pick-up occurs.
Yard waste is collected on trash days; however, yard waste must be put in approved brown yard waste bags which are available for purchase at the local Home Depot store. For more information on yard waste collection in Fairfax County (this includes leaves), please visit Yard Waste | Public Works and Environmental Services (fairfaxcounty.gov).
Recycle Bins
Homeowners are reminded to secure recycle containers during times of seasonal high gusting winds. Waste/recycle receptacles are not permitted in public view except on recycle collection days, (Thursdays of each week) and must be stored out of public view as soon as possible after each pick-up. Boxes must be broken down flat and secured with twine or other recyclable material. For more information on what can be recycled, please visit Recycling Guide: What Can I Recycle | Republic Services.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: With the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, it is important to remember that in Fairfax County, glass CANNOT be included with recycle materials. You must take your glass to a separate glass recycling facility. Fortunately for Landmark Mews, there is a nearby purple bin glass recycling station at Tower Court & South Whiting Street at the end of South White Street by The Alley Cat Restaurant. Take Stevenson Avenue and turn LEFT onto South Whiting Street at the traffic light. You will see the purple glass recycling station at the end of the street.
Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving!
